Club News
At the recent November committee meeting some issues that had occured during the season were discussed. Main points
arising were
- Mike Alley decided not to continue as 1st XI captain. We need confirmed captains for our two sides before the
end of January 2012.
- All players are required to pay subs by the end of May 2012. Any player not paying by this date will not be considered
for selection. In addition, players who owe subs from previous years must pay what they owe or will not be considered for selection at the start of the season.
- The Junior and Senior Outdoor Practices will be combined into one Club Night to take place on Wednesday evenings. We need help to run the junior coaching or these sessions may not continue
- The club is purchasing a mobile net to replace the existing fixed net - this new net can be moved by just two people onto the square or used in the current spot.
- We are looking for a new venue and new format for the Annual Dinner. Instead of a formal dinner, we will
probably go 'buffet-style'. Tea ladies and sponsors will be invited to attend for free. There will be no formal speeches (apart from a short Welcome speech) and we may look at
having music or a speaker of some kind (possibly not connected to cricket).
- An Awards and Curry night will take place for the players near the end of the season.
League News
The County League recently voted for a bowler to be limited to 20% of their teams overs - no help
whatsoever to clubs like us who do well to put out two teams and will now have to find a minimum
of 5 bowlers for the first team. The 1st XI continues in Division Four The 2nd XI will be in Division Three of the
Cirencester League next season after thier relegation.
